About Techstars Startup Weekend Online Kentucky: a 54-hour online event designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. You'll create a working startup during the event and have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education. Whether you are looking for feedback on an idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Techstars Startup Weekend Kentucky is the perfect environment in which to test your idea online and take the first steps towards launching your own startup. Digital Inclusion: A silver lining from COVID is that this event is able to reach further than ever before. We want to provide ALL KENTUCKIANS an equal opportunity to experience the thrill of this entrepreneurial exercise virtually in hopes that it inspires our state's future founders. How it Works: it all starts with an idea... Pitch - Whether you’ve thought on an idea for 5 seconds or 5 years, record a short 60 second video explaining who you are, the problem you’re trying to solve, your solution, and the talent you need. Don’t have an idea to pitch? That’s okay – you can join a team and learn the process with their idea! Validate - Once teams form organically around an idea, it’s off to the races! You’ll spend the rest of the weekend learning how to validate an idea, form a business model, and build a minimum viable product. If these words don’t make sense, don’t worry! We’ll have virtual, interactive workshops to educate you over the weekend and helpful mentors to live-chat or video call along the way. Present - The weekend wraps up with a Shark Tank-style pitch in front of a panel of judges. You’ll record your 5 minute pitch to present everything you’ve learned over the weekend for a chance at winning awesome prizes that will help you and your team further your journey. Judges will watch your pitch “live” during our closing ceremony and challenge you with a live Q&A. If you’re very concerned, you can limit your pitch to the rough outline of the idea without giving away key information.
