Often described as “an MBA in one weekend,” Techstars Startup Weekend Louisville is officially on the books for June 7 - 9, 2019. This can’t-miss event that turns ideas into businesses in one weekend will kickoff Friday, June 7 at 6 p.m. at the recently launched East Main Inspired, Louisville’s new entrepreneur center. Whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, creative, developer, student, or inventor, get your tickets today to this great event that will challenge you, teach you how to start a business, and push you to move ideas into action. “Louisville’s startup ecosystem is on the rise and this is the perfect event to join in on the action,” says lead organizer Austin Lopesilvero. “Startup Weekend is about developing aspiring entrepreneurs, connecting people to other awesome people in the community, and developing a culture of ‘Give First’ mentality.” Louisville has held 12 Startup Weekends with several teams continuing past the event. Two recent winners, Agent Ally and Pascal Tags, went on to win Vogt Awards, each receiving $25,000.

How It Works

This three-day event starts on Friday evening with each participant having the opportunity to pitch a “back-of-the-napkin” business idea. The crowd votes on their favorite ideas and moves into a speed-dating interview process to form teams. Over the course of the weekend, teams will hit the pavement learning and practicing the “Lean Startup” model. Coaches from Louisville’s business community and universities challenge and mentor the teams to develop profitable business models. The weekend concludes on Sunday night with a Shark Tank-like pitch competition judged by a panel of local entrepreneurs. Winners receive prize packages such as legal help, coworking space, software development, and more to help their business continue after the weekend is over. Early-bird tickets go on sale today for $50 per person. Cost includes seven meals, drinks, snacks, t-shirt, swag, and more. Tickets will increase to $75 on May 7, and can be purchased at startupweekendlouisville.com. Like most startups, Startup Weekend Louisville runs on a shoestring budget.
