Why Additive Manufacturing Matters | UofL Institute for Product Realization

In this TALK presentation and holiday celebration, the UL Additive Manufacturing Competency Center Educational Programs Director Ed Tackett will discuss what he sees as the top ten emerging trends in additive metals manufacturing and how those trends impact the industrial sector.  The AMCC is currently part of the connected buildings which includes First Build, and the U of L Engineering Garage.

Ed Tackett

Ed Tackett is the director of educational programs at the UL Additive Manufacturing Competency Center (UL AMCC), which is part of the Institute for Product Realization at the University of Louisville and is located at the University of Louisville's Belknap campus.

Tackett is a nationally recognized educator in the additive manufacturing field, and was previously director of The RapidTech NSF National Center at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. With more than 25 years in additive manufacturing training and education, Tackett is instrumental in leading the UL AMCC and the development and delivery of its curriculum.

John Gant will give us a lightning round opener on just what is the Institute of Product Realization and how the UL AMCC facility fits in the family.

John Gant is director of industry partnerships and alliances at the Institute for Product Realization at the University of Louisville, which includes the UL AMCC. The Institute connects industry to campus, helping companies innovate and get their products from mind to market quickly and cost-effectively. This process also furthers the Institute's broader mission of creating an innovation ecosystem and generating educational and engagement opportunities for students who will become the next generation of thinkers, doers and leaders.
